Police in Fairfield have identified a suspect who robbed two faculty members outside a school in Southport.
Police say the suspect approached two female faculty members as they were walking from their cars to the building before he pulled out a gun and got away with their phones and bags.
Dr. Ben Powers, head of The Southport School, says the school was temporarily placed into lockdown.
Powers says the faculty members were not hurt and that no students were on campus at the time.
He adds the safety and security of the school community is his primary concern.
Investigators believe a group of juveniles targeted the Southport area after committing similar crimes in other parts of the state.
Police say a 15-year-old believed to be responsible for the armed robbery was taken into custody in New Haven for an unrelated crime.
Police say they are continuing to investigate the incident.
