New Caanan police are investigating a string of copper thefts that have occurred in the town over the past two months.

Authorities say that 10 copper downspouts worth about $50,000 were taken from a home on Mariomi Road last month.

Police say that thieves usually drive around looking for homes with copper pipes and typically strike when they assume no one is home.
