A man is dead after a shooting inside a Bridgeport bodega Saturday morning.
Police say gunfire rang out inside the Maple Mini Market at the intersection of Maple and Kossuth streets before 10 a.m.
Investigators say one shot was fired in what they are calling a targeted attack. They say the victim was standing in front of the store and someone who knew him came from around the corner and shot him in the face.
Police Chief AJ Perez says the victim was declared dead at the scene.
Family members of the victim tell News 12 that losing their loved one two days before Christmas is a nightmare beyond description.
"I'll never forget that mom screaming out here on the street," Perez says. "We'll keep them in our prayers."
The shooting marked the city's 23rd homicide of the year.
Police say the murder was captured on camera from several different angles and they hope to make an arrest before the year is over.
