Police have arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting in the North End of Bridgeport Sunday morning.
The incident happened at the Pitt Stop Convenience Store and Citgo Station on Reservoir Avenue, where authorities say gunshots rang out around 8:45 a.m.
Police say a 50-year-old man was shot multiple times including once in the head and was declared dead at the scene.
Neighbors sent their thoughts to the family of the victim.
"You have to think about that gentleman's family, how they're feeling, how they're suffering to find out that their son got killed in the daylight hours on a Sunday morning," said Jorge Cruz of Bridgeport.
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim called the incident "a matter of urgent priority."
"My sympathies go out certainly in this terrible tragedy but the police department, the chief, has assured me he's on this with all their efforts," Ganim said.
Authorities say they've arrested Jayvell Washington, 39, in connection to the shooting. He was taken into custody on Fairview Avenue after being dropped off there by two other men in a rental car.
Washington is being charged with murder. Bond was set for $1 million.
He will be arraigned in court Monday.
Officials say the identity of the victim will be released at a later date.
