Norwalk police say a man was arrested and charged with trying to steal a package from a mail sorting facility.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. Monday at the USPS Westport Carrier Annex on Westport Avenue in Norwalk.
Police say 48-year-old Barry Horton entered a warehouse toward the back of the annex through an unlocked door and took a package. A worker noticed and confronted Horton. That's when police say he dropped the package and took off toward a nearby condominium complex where he lives.
The worker allegedly chased Horton while calling 911. Responding officers quickly caught up with Horton at his condo.
News 12 on Tuesday spoke with Horton off camera. He says that he was just bottle picking and not trying to steal anything.
Horton is free on bond and is due back in court later this month on charges of burglary and attempted larceny.
