Police nab teens accused of Greenwich graffiti spree
Greenwich police announced they?ve caught more than a half-dozen suspected vandals connected to a recent graffiti spree.
Seven teens between the ages of 14 and 18 were arrested Tuesday. Police said the teens spray-painted their tags, which are their so-called artistic names, on property across town.
?It?s a culture to them, an underground culture, what they believe is art. If they see [a] white wall, they put their moniker on it,? Police Officer Keith Hirsch said. ?They believe they improved it in their eyes as well as [the] eyes of other kids performing the graffiti.?
Police said it took months to piece all of the cases together. In most of the graffiti cases, police said the teens acted completely independent of one another.
Only one of the teen?s names has been released, 18-year-old Brad Crosen, of Greenwich. The others are minors.
Authorities say the suspects were not involved in a case of window-smashing vandalism.
