Police: Newtown woman killed in crash involving deer in Easton

A serious accident involving a deer killed a Newtown woman on Route 59 last week, according to the Easton Police Department.

A serious accident involving a deer killed a Newtown woman on Route 59 last week, according to the Easton Police Department.

Police say the deceased driver was identified as 47-year-old Erin Heneghan. The crash happened on Nov. 20 when a pickup truck heading north on Route 59 was hit by a deer.

Officers said the deer went airborne and crashed through the windshield of Heneghan’s Honda Pilot. The deer was then ejected from the vehicle through the rear window.

Heneghan was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with serious injuries. Police say she died on Nov. 21.
