Police said Thursday that two officers are under investigation for moonlighting as bouncers at a local bar where dozens of college students were cited this week for underage drinking.
Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez said he was outraged when he found out two of his officers were breaking department policy by working as bouncers at the Golden Star Cafe on Main Street.
It is the same business police raided Tuesday night where they cited nearly 80 Sacred Heart University students for underage drinking.
City Councilwoman Michelle Lyons said the two officers sent the worst possible message to young people by breaking the rules themselves.
Perez said that both officers were placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of an internal investigation, which could take up to two weeks to complete.
The Golden Star Cafe is also where police said Alfonso Reid met a 19-year-old Sacred Heart University student who he's accused of sexually assaulting.
