Two police officers rescued a 27-year-old man early Thursday morning after a fire broke out in his friend's home.
Homeowner, Father Deming, said that he smelled smoke around 4:30 a.m. and quickly removed his 94-year-old mother and wife from the house. Deming says his friend was left in the home and police officers, Jeff Platek and Jonathan DeRubeis, broke through the door to get him out safely.
The victim is recovering at Bridgeport Hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation.
According to Father Deming, the fire started with a cigarette or candle from where his friend was sleeping.
