Another community in southwestern Connecticut has been hit with a wave of car break-ins.
Police say residents in New Canaan are among 30 others who have reported break-in victims since last week.
New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski says thieves broke into a dozen unlocked cars around Brushy Ridge Road early Wednesday morning.
"Various items were stolen from inside the vehicles, including wallets, change, other valuables," he says. "Also, we had a stolen vehicle."
Last week, police in Easton investigated 17 car break-ins.
Krolikowski says he hopes license plate readers on patrol cars might track down the crooks, but neighbors are vital too.
"Call us whenever you see, hear, or feel something suspicious. Don't hesitate," he says.
