Stamford police have released a surveillance video in an effort to identify five men they say were involved in a shooting on the city's west side.
Police say there have been five shootings in three separate areas of the west side of Stamford since Dec. 1. They say it's one of the more dangerous parts of the city, but this much violence is unusual.
Police say the shooting caught on surveillance video on Orchard Street late Saturday night is the most recent incident in the uptick of gunfire. The video shows five young men, some who police say may have been carrying guns, approach the area moments before the shooting. Police say the persons of interest could be connected to four other shootings in the area.
Lt. Diedrich Hohn says they believe the violence has been spurred by a turf war between two groups.
Other shootings have occurred on Myano Lane and Spruce Street. Police say one person was grazed by a bullet during one of the shootings on Myano Lane, but no one else has been hurt so far.
Police are asking anyone with any information about these crimes to call them.
