Police say a 4-year-old pit bull was shot Wednesday after she was caught in the middle of an arrest.
Authorities say a 22-year-old man was walking the dog from a Kingsbridge park to his apartment at 2835 Webb Ave. when police followed him. Officers say the dog was not on a leash, but witnesses claim the owner removed the leash just outside the door of his apartment. Police have not confirmed why the man was followed or arrested.
The suspect's father says his son may have been involved with drugs. The pit bull, who gave birth to seven puppies a few weeks ago, survived the shooting.
