Police say they believe a string of ATM thefts in Fairfield may be related.
Authorities say thieves broke into the Milk Plus store on the Post Road early Sunday morning and stole the ATM.
Later that morning, they say the thieves targeted broke into the Bennett Service Station and damaged their ATM but were unsuccessful.
Police say thieves tried to steal money from the ATM at Rawley's Drive In on the Post Road days earlier.
They say the thieves broke right through the door, smashing the glass with a hammer.
Inside they tried to steal cash. However, the owner at Rawley's Drive In says he takes all the money out every night and leaves the door open so thieves aren't tempted.
He says they didn't get away with anything, but they did damage the machine.
Fairfield police say there have been similar crimes in Westport and Shelton, and they're working with those departments to see if they're all related.
