Bridgeport police are searching for a person who allegedly opened fire on a house and car on Poplar Street.
Authorities say somebody fired shots at a specific address near the intersection of Fairfield Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
While police say they don't know who fired the shots, they say the attack was not random.
"This was a message that was sent to someone," said Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez.
Bullets left a mark on a car and on a nearby house. Perez says investigators are using ballistic evidence collected at the scene and statements by witnesses to try and figure who pulled the trigger.
Residents in the area say the situation has them scared for their family’s safety.
"You know it's dangerous--you never know what can happen," said Asia Johnson, a mother of three young children. "You shouldn't feel like that in your own neighborhood."
Police are asking anybody with information on the incident to call their tip line.
