Fourth of July fireworks displays will soon light up the sky, and police want for families to leave the fireworks to the professionals.
The Norwalk Police Department posted a video on Facebook saying that every year between June 21 and July 21, there is a dramatic increase in injuries and deaths caused by fireworks in the United States.
The video goes on to say that in 2020, approximately 15,600 people were injured and 18 people died.
Police say that even sparklers are dangerous, as they burn at 2,400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Officials once again remind residents that the only fireworks that are legal in Connecticut are sparklers and fountains.
