Pop-up shops are up and running in Stamford selling fireworks ahead of this Fourth of July.

Each tent is run by private operators either as a nonprofit fundraiser or a quick summer enterprise. Kevin D'Angelo, a Westhill High School teacher and football coach, set up a tent on Summer Street as a way to make extra cash. He says location is key to this quick business venture.

"That's the reason I've been here so many years," says D'Angelo. "Dairy Queen has been awesome to us year after year, letting us hold our spot here in their parking lot. So we've been very blessed in that respect. We get a lot of foot traffic, good conversation, we put on music during the nighttime and it's kind of an event for us too, it's pretty fun."

In Connecticut, you can only buy handheld sparklers or fountains that you set on the ground. D'Angelo says to stay safe and keep it legal only use your fireworks on private property and stay away from anything flammable. He also says keep a bucket of water on hand at all times.
