A popular vegan eatery in Fairfield will be closing soon due to inflation and pandemic-related issues.
The Stand owner Jenna McPartland told News 12 her place survived the pandemic and still has plenty of customers, but the cost of supplies kept increasing after COVID-19 was gone.
“It's like a train that I could see coming and the closer it got to me, the faster it seemed to be so I could see it coming,” she said. “And I was doing everything I can to get off the track or whatever I need to do it hasn't been enough.”
McPartland added because her place was vegan it became difficult to find cheaper alternatives, leaving her with not enough money to pay her staff.
The Stand will close its doors Aug. 27.
McPartland says she's looking at other venues including selling her baked good wholesale.
