Hundreds of people gathered Monday evening for a prayer service held to mark the third anniversary of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.
The mood was somber as people filed into the Trinity Episcopal Church for the interfaith service.
Newtown continues to provide therapeutic and community outreach programs to help people cope with the tragedy. Residents say their goal is to encourage others to seek support from one another to help heal.
The nearly hourlong service included prayer, readings and a moment of silence.
