President Obama has been re-elected to a second term after winning more than 300 electoral votes.
President Obama also won the popular vote in Connecticut with 58 percent of the vote compared to Mitt Romney's 41 percent.
During his victory speech last night the president told a cheering crowd, "While our journey has been long, we have picked ourselves up, we have fought our way back, and we know in our hearts, for the United States of America, the best is yet to come."
