President Donald Trump approved Connecticut's request for a disaster declaration amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Gov. Ned Lamont was notified by FEMA Sunday.
The approval means impacted state agencies will be reimbursed for 75% of the cost associated with their response and emergency protective measures.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Sen. Chris Murphy commended the move.
They said over the past few weeks, they have both spoken with workers and businesses impacted by the economic downturn, and they will need every possible source of economic relief to survive the coming months.
Blumenthal and Murphy added that their offices will continue to work in close collaboration with Lamont and the White House to provide Connecticut with all the resources it will need.
