Norwalk-based Priceline has teamed up with Costco to donate several tons of food to the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County this Thanksgiving.
Priceline employees worked to stock the shelves at the food bank today as part of Priceline's annual holiday food drive.
This is the 18th year they've been doing this.
A tradition Priceline says is especially important to carry out this year with inflation impacting so many people.
Around 50 Priceline employees headed out from Priceline's headquarters in Norwalk to Costco to buy the food. They loaded up a few trucks and then brought the goods to the food bank. Everything from turkeys for Thanksgiving to shelf-stable items to get folks in need through the winter.
The food bank's executive director Kate Lombardo estimates the demand for food locally has gone up around 30% over the past two years.
As a non-profit, Lombardo says donations like this help make the impossible seem possible.
She hopes people realize just how much of an issue food insecurity continues to be.
Throughout the holiday season, Priceline will also raise money for the food bank as well.
