The University School in Bridgeport may soon shut its doors.
Principal Lynn Ford says the private alternative high school may not have enough funding to keep the school open.
The school, located at 136 LaFayette St., has a contract with the Bridgeport School District to run both regular and special education programs for students who have had problems in Bridgeport's three main high schools.
Ford says the district has renewed only a part of that contract, which amounts to too little funding for the school to keep operating after it closes for summer recess in two weeks.
School officials say they are making a last-minute appeal to city leaders.
The Bridgeport School District has not commented on the issue.
