Professional Women’s Hockey League New York franchise to play home games in Bridgeport

Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport has a new tenant – a professional women’s hockey team.
The Professional Women's Hockey League New York franchise announced it will play its home games in Bridgeport.
The first game is just over a month away.
News 12 introduced the team earlier this month with a look inside practice at Chelsea Piers Athletic Club in Stamford. That's where the team's headquarters are set up.
The New York team will play the first game of the inaugural PWHL season in Toronto at 12:30 p.m. on New Year's Day.
The team’s home opener in Bridgeport will come on Friday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m.
The season is expected to run through May.
The PWHL is a new endeavor that includes Billie Jean King on the board.
