Protesters living in tents for the past week outside Bridgeport’s Police Headquarters made a trip to Central High School Thursday evening for a chance to speak face to face with city leaders.
People filled the bleachers at Kennedy Stadium to have their voices heard during a special City Council meeting at the school.
They say they want divestment from the city's police force and investment in the community.
During the meeting, each speaker had three minutes to make their case – some spoke of their own personal experiences with police.
The City Council says sweeping changes will take time.
It’s not yet clear if the meeting will get protesters to pack up and leave from outside Police Headquarters.
The hearing lasted for two hours. The people say they do not expect to pack up their tents anytime soon.
