People who manage to get a good night's sleep consider themselves fairly lucky, but imagine sleeping for days or even weeks at a time.
The illness is known as Kleine-Levin Syndrome, and those who suffer from it fall asleep without always knowing when they're going to wake up.
For most who are stricken with this disease, the long sleep episodes usually occur once every few months. Doctors say the illness tends to disappear after about 10 years.
Local woman Jessica Saccone, who has the illness, says it's very difficult on her.
"You just wanna cry sometimes," the 21-year-old woman says.
