Gov. Jodi Rell assembled a summit with Connecticut university presidents, security heads and public safety experts to discuss college campus safety Thursday.
The conference, held at Central Connecticut State, was convened to address safety issues raised in the aftermath of the April 16 shooting at Virginia Tech.
Rell said campus security is about more than outside threats ? it's also about dangers that could come from inside the campus. She says it?s about recognizing and handling students who may be troubled.
The summit was the first in a series of programs planned to address the issue of keeping state campuses safe while respecting the individual rights of students.
