(AP) - Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell hasunveiled a revised spending plan in the hopes of sparking new lifeinto sluggish state budget talks.
The new budget cuts $1.3 billionin spending, closes some courthouses and parks, and introducesKeno, an electronic lottery game.
While Rell, a Republican, wants the Democratic-controlledGeneral Assembly to vote on it before the session adjourns on June3, it's questionable whether that will happen.
House Speaker Christopher Donovan says the plan would hurtmiddle- and low-income families and still falls $1 billion short ofcovering the state's projected two-year deficit.
Rell's two-year, $37.2 billion supplemental budget comes morethan three months after she proposed a $38.4 billion plan.
Closed-door budget negotiations broke down this week. It'sunclear when they will resume. The new fiscal year begins on July1.
