Some tenants in Connecticut are facing eviction despite Gov. Ned Lamont’s moratorium during the pandemic.
State Rep. Dennis Bradley says Bridgeport resident Laura Romaine, who is disabled and has three children, is set to evicted Tuesday.
Bradley says Romaine’s landlord applied for the eviction before the pandemic began.
Romaine tells News 12 she and her kids will become homeless in the cold temperatures.
“It’s not fair that the court system is being allowed to put people out during a pandemic,” Romaine says.
Bradley says residents should lend a helping hand, and should understand exceptions that are allowing evictions to take place.
Romaine says there is a long waiting list for shelters. Her friends and family have started a GoFundMe page to help her.
