Some Woodbridge residents say they are not happy with a construction project that is underway.
Department of Transportation officials say they are working on a $3 million project that will include widening Route 63 and putting a traffic light and crosswalk at the intersection of routes 63 and 67. Officials say they will also be lowering the road about three feet, making it easier for drivers to see.
Some neighbors say there is no need for a traffic light or a crosswalk, and that a light would end up creating more problems. They also say lowering the road wouldn't necessarily make it safer.
Residents feel the construction is destroying the rural nature of the area. They are frustrated because they feel officials haven't been listening to them.
State officials say the project is necessary, and that they want to have a conversation with neighbors about their concerns. They say they expect the project to be done by the end of next year.
Officials will be meeting with residents again next month to discuss the project.
