The annual Blue Mass was held in Bridgeport Sunday honoring fire, police and EMS - while also paying special tribute to those who died in the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
The Diocese of Bridgeport held its annual Blue Mass at St. Augustine Cathedral.
Attendees commemorated the 18th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2001.
They also honored first responders for local acts of heroism, bravery and public service.
Bishop Frank J. Caggiano presided over the services.
Father Alexis Moronta said the ceremony was deeply personal because of his connection to friends who served at ground zero.
He said you cannot honor this group of men and women without thinking about what they did for America on that day.
"I know priests who were there helping on that day," said Moronta.
The Knights of Columbus and Fairfield County Assemblies provided the honor guard for the ceremony.
