Residents say historic home being illegally destroyed

Some residents say the owner of a historic house is demolishing the home against the attorney general?s orders.
The historical Grumman-St. John House is located in front of the Norwalk Inn. Hotel owner Chris Handrinos wants to demolish the home to expand the hotel.
Norwalk observers and preservationists say the owner is tearing down the house piece by piece. They speculate that someone may have been paid to destroy the house so that it will have to be knocked down.
Handrinos told News 12 Connecticut, "I have no idea what is happening. There is nothing I can do to repair the house because there is a court case pending.? He blames the state of the house on vandals.
A court will decide on the fate of the house in September.
