Milford school officials want to revamp the district's policy regarding students who attend schools outside their home district.
The current policy states that students can only go to a high school outside of their district for specific educational reasons. Officials discussed the issue at a Board of Education meeting Monday night.
School officials say the policy is vague, leaving parents to interpret it differently. They proposed a new policy, which is longer, more specific and requires approval from the superintendent every year a student requests to attend a high school outside a student's district.
The new policy has an exception allowing students to remain in their current high schools.
No decision was made on the matter at the meeting Monday night, and parents hope the school board will take back their proposal or delay its implementation.
