One of the people rescued from a fire at a Redding home Tuesday night has died.
The victim has been identified as Brien Karlson, a sixth grader at John Read Middle School, who died at the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
The superintendent at Easton, Redding and Region 9 School Districts released a statement Wednesday evening confirming the death of Karlson.
The flames broke out on Diamond Hill Road just before midnight.
Witnesses say the fire produced massive flames that shot into the sky. Some neighbors say they thought they could hear shouting.
Neighbors say fire trucks continued to come into the area throughout the night to battle the blaze.
This area only has well water, so tankers were needed to put the fire out.
The school district says a Crisis Intervention Team is available to any and all students who need help processing the tragedy.
There is no word on what caused the fire.
