Massachusetts State Police say a second suspect was arrested on Monday following the deadly shooting of a Connecticut National Guardsman and her daughter.
The Worcester Police Department says on March 4, officers were sent to Lisbon Street and Englewood Avenue around 3:09 p.m. after hearing gunshots. Upon arrival, they found a parked car with Chasity Nunez, 27, and her daughter, Zella Nunez, 11, suffering from serious gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police say two suspects were involved in the shootings. Karel Mangual, 28, was arrested on March 6 in connection to the incident. Dejan Belnavis, 27, was arrested on Monday in California after a week-long search.
Prosecutors say the shooting was caught on surveillance video and happened in broad daylight.
Chasity Nunez was also the mother of a 2-year-old daughter. A service is being held for the victims at the Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home in Worcester, Massachusetts on Thursday, March 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
