Some students at Westhill High School stayed home Friday after hearing rumors of possible violence.
The rumors stem from the fatal shooting of a Stamford High student. Flanegaine Joseph, 19, was killed over the weekend on the city?s West Side. Shortly after Joseph?s death, rumors began that his friends would retaliate at rival school Westhill High.
Westhill?s principal sent home a letter to parents about the possible violence. The school also canceled Friday night?s basketball game against Stamford. Police have also beefed up patrols at the school. The school?s superintendent expects the day to be a normal day, but says the precautions are necessary to alleviate fears.
