Caregivers are set to strike outside of group homes across the state Wednesday.
Advocates held a press conference Tuesday laying out their demands.
They are all members of SEIU District 1199 New England's Health Care Employees Union.
The group wants an additional $400 million in the state budget in Medicaid funding to lift long-term caregivers and group home workers out of poverty.
With wages below $18 an hour, both union and non-union workers say their own health is at stake.
Strike notices for indefinite work stoppage have been delivered to several Medicaid funded agencies in the state, which includes one location in Bridgeport.
