Sen. Richard Blumenthal held a conference in Hartford Monday morning, along with local meat raisers to address what he says are misleading meat labels.
As people get ready to fire up their grills this week, the senator warns to be mindful of deceptive products.
"A lot of people are paying a lot more for these labels like grass-fed, ground-beef, no hormones, vegetarian fed diet. How do you know it's true? Well, the answer is a lot of these labels are just plain unreliable. A recent study from the Animal Welfare Institute showed that about three-quarters of these labels are either undocumented or unsubstantiated or in many cases inaccurate," said Blumenthal.
