Sen. Richard Blumenthal says he is pushing for federal rental assistance in Connecticut to provide relief for families during the pandemic.
Sen. Blumenthal says he will fight this week for a rental assistance program that could keep thousands of families in Connecticut from becoming homeless due to the pandemic.
"Unless we pass, this week, a rental assistance program, countless families in Connecticut will be eventually evicted from their homes. We owe it to the families as well as the landlords that we provide this rental assistance in the HEROS Act coming before the Senate, I hope this week," Blumenthal says.
Blumenthal says that without an assistance program, the state will face a large homeless problem.
