Several people are displaced Thursday following a fire at a high-rise apartment building in Fairfield.
The fire happened at the Alto Fairfield Metro Complex on Kings Highway around 9:47 p.m. Wednesday.
When crews got to the fire, they say smoke was coming from the deck of an apartment on the sixth floor.
Firefighters say the fire was deep seated and hidden inside of a decorative fireplace surround.
Crews needed to use saws and other tools to fight the flames.
All of the town's 23 firefighters on duty as well as 10 firefighters from Bridgeport were called in to knock down the fire.
Everyone made it out safely before firefighters arrived.
There's water damage to nine apartments, and tenants in five of them are currently displaced.
