Residents living in low-lying and coastal areas of Bridgeport are evacuating as Hurricane Sandy closes in on the Northeast.
Mayor Bill Finch ordered the evacuations earlier today and says residents who can't seek shelter elsewhere should head to one of three opened emergency shelters.
As residents prepare to leave the city or get fuel for their generators, gas stations in downtown Bridgeport say they now have to turn customers away because they've sold out of gas.
The three schools being used as emergency shelters are Jettie Tisdale School on Hollister Avenue, Geraldine Johnson School on Lexington Avenue, and Cesar Batalla School on Howard Avenue.
