CT DOT: Route 8 southbound reopens following serious crash

The state Department of Transportation said the southbound lanes of Route 8 near exits 13 and 12 have reopened.
Route 8 was closed around 4 p.m. on Saturday following a car accident.

Fire officials also said a child was in the car and was also transported to the hospital to be evaluated.
A cause of the crash was not immediately clear as of Saturday night.
