Thousands of people celebrated the 4th of July at Sherwood Island State Park
The park was closed for two days after a storm ripped through the area last weekend, but it was ready for Thursday’s crowds.
Revelers told News 12 they were happy to spend the holiday at the beach.
“We're out here enjoying the water, trying to enjoy some sun, enjoying this Fourth of July together,” said Israel Beltran, who made the trip with his three children. “Family is everything."
