An arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing of taxi driver Mahomed Kama.
Stamford police arrested 29-year-old Shota Mekoshvili, who lives in Stamford on a visa from the Republic of Georgia.
Police say phone records and other intelligence helped them find their suspect. They say a foot chase ensued before Mekoshvili was Tasered and arrested Wednesday night.
Police believe Mekoshvili's motive was robbery. Police say Mekoshvili has been arrested for burglary in the past.
Mekoshvili will go before a judge Friday morning. He is behind bars on $1 million bond.
The wife of the taxi driver killed Wednesday spoke publicly after police announced the arrest.
Razia Sultana says she is glad that police arrested the man they say killed Kama. Sultana describes her husband as a generous man, who provided for family here and in Bangladesh.
