Two men are facing multiple charges after Stamford police say one of them fired shots at an officer during a drug bust.
Lawrence Lynwood Moore, 30, of Bridgeport, and Mathew Gregory Sholomicky 30, of Stratford, were arrested Tuesday following the incident.
Police say they stopped their vehicle on Seaton Street around 3 p.m. after receiving a tip that the men inside were transporting fentanyl.
Officials say as an officer approached the car, Moore pulled out a handgun and began firing at him.
The officer was able to find cover and avoid being struck by the gunfire, while several other officers were able to take both Moore and Sholomicky into custody without incident, police say.
Officers say they recovered 40 bags of fentanyl, several grams of crack cocaine, marijuana and a gun from the car.
Police say the gun was stolen and that all 5 rounds had been fired from the revolver.
Police say Moore, who is a convicted felon, was charged with criminal attempt at murder, criminal possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, reckless endangerment, possession of narcotics, and possession of narcotics with the intent to sell. He is being held on a $1,050,000 bond.
Sholomicky was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with the intent to sell. He is being held on a $50,000 bond. Both men appeared in court Wednesday and are scheduled to reappear on June 23.
