A 1,000-foot waterslide covered the pavement in downtown Stamford Sunday for the city's first ever "Slide the City" event.
Crew members were on the premises as early as 3 a.m. to install the industrial vinyl slide on Prospect Street between Hoyt Street and Latham Park.
Officials said a lot of work went into the assembling process. Before securing the slide, the crew had to layer a foam substance beneath it.
Event directors said they had been planning the installation for months.
The next Slide the City event will be next month in Hartford.
