What started out as snow early Wednesday has turned into freezing rain across southwestern Connecticut. The wintry mix left on the ground made it dangerous for commuters who were hitting the roads. Department of Public Works crews were out in full force before daybreak hoping to get a head start sanding and plowing the roads.The freezing rain is expected to turn to regular rain by Wednesday afternoon.
