Southwestern Connecticut residents are preparing for the first substantial snowfall of 2008 expected to hit Sunday night and Monday morning.
Though the weather has been fairly mild the last week, meteorologists are expecting several inches of snow come Monday.
Many Norwalk residents were out enjoying the last of the semi-warm weather. However, they said they are ready for anything, as they prepped their snowblowers and got out their shovels.
The city of Norwalk is also ready with about 30 trucks ready to clear the roads. City officials say crews are usually ready to go about three to four hours before the snow hits the ground.
Meanwhile, Milford?s mayor has already declared a snow emergency starting at 6 p.m. Sunday. Woodbridge police have also announced a town-wide parking ban beginning 6 p.m. Sunday through Monday.
Rain and snow are expected to begin in the evening, becoming all snow overnight. The snowfall will continue into Monday morning before tapering off in the afternoon.
A heavy snow warning is in effect from 9 p.m. Sunday to 11 a.m. Monday. Forecasters are predicting 6 to 8 inches of snowfall.
Travel conditions are expected to be dangerous.
