Residents across southwestern Connecticut are rushing to file their tax returns before Monday's midnight deadline.
Tax preparers say their office waiting rooms were standing room only during the crunch. But for area post offices, the lines have diminished since electronic filing has grown more popular. That means most of the state's post offices will not extend hours, unless you live in Hartford or New Haven.
Anyone looking to file a last minute return can take advantage of some tax preparers' extended hours. Also if you can't make it to the post office, the postal service does offer several automated centers that can postmark items after hours.
