Southwestern Connecticut is preparing for this weekend's arctic blast of cold weather.
Over at the Ski and Sport of Westport, employees say they saw more customers buying warm clothing Thursday in preparation for the weekend's brutally cold temperatures. Popular items of the day included gloves and hand warmers.
A local emergency management director and medical experts warn residents to be bundled up if they're going to be outside. Otherwise, they could be at risk for hypothermia and frostbite, which could hit within five minutes, depending on the temperature or wind.
Experts also recommend wearing loose clothing, as it will help with circulation.
