St. Raymond High School for Boys baseball coach Ron Patnosh captured his 1,000th career win Tuesday with the Ravens' win over Salesian High School.
St. Ray was up 7-2 in the sixth inning. However, the Salesian Eagles wouldn't go quietly. Angel Velasquez hit the ball over the right fielder's head, allowing teammate Alex Zadrima to come in and score. Ravens pitcher Hans Arias rallied. Arias threw a complete game four-hitter, giving up three runs with five strikeouts. The Ravens won 7-3.
Coach Patnosh, who was proud of his accomplishment, was even more proud of his team. "More important than my personal goal, you know, we still got a shot at the playoffs," Patnosh said.
Patnosh has coached the Ravens for the last 41 years.
